Route Rewritten: Lessons from the Road
This isn’t just a travel blog. It’s a record of what happens when the life you built no longer fits—and you decide to rewrite it, mile by mile and moment by moment.
On the road and in the everyday, I’m sharing the messy, in-motion parts of change—no perfect lessons, just a real rewrite happening in real time.
More about the blog
Route Rewritten: Lessons from the Road started as an idea tied to movement. Road trips. New places. A different view out the window. But somewhere along the way, it became clear that the real journey isn’t about where I’m going. It’s about who I’m becoming. Some of that unfolds on the road—driving new highways, sharing space and stories with my mom, seeing parts of the country I’ve never seen before. But just as much of it happens in the ordinary: At work. In moments of pressure and presence. In the gym, rebuilding strength—physically and mentally. In quiet, everyday shifts that don’t look like much from the outside… but feel like everything on the inside. This space holds all of it. The big moments and the small ones. The clarity and the confusion. The parts that feel strong, and the parts still figuring it out. You won’t find perfectly packaged lessons here. Some posts will have meaning that’s clear. Some will just be moments—unfinished, unfiltered, still in motion. Because that’s what this season of life is: not a clean narrative, but a rewrite happening in real time.
Who I am
I’m not starting over. I’m starting from experience. Midlife has a way of stripping things down to what’s real—and asking harder questions than I used to ask. Questions about identity, strength, purpose, and what it actually means to live a life that feels like mine. For a long time, I followed the expected route. And in many ways, it worked—until it didn’t. Now, I’m choosing differently. Not all at once. Not perfectly. But intentionally. I’m traveling more. Paying attention more. Letting go of what no longer fits, even when it’s uncomfortable. And learning that courage doesn’t always look like a leap—it often looks like staying present in the middle of uncertainty. One of the most unexpected parts of this journey has been sharing it with my mom. Traveling together has added layers I didn’t anticipate—connection, history, growth, and moments that are both simple and significant in ways I’m still uncovering. This blog isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about being willing to look at your life and say: there might be another way to do this. And then taking the first step—even if you’re not entirely sure where it leads. If you’re here, you might be feeling that shift too. Not lost. Not broken. Just… no longer willing to stay the same. Welcome to the rewrite.
